Friuli Innovazione

Friuli Innovazione Center of research and technology transfer is based in Udine (Italy) and was set up in 1999 with the aim of fostering the collaboration among local enterprises, universities and research centers. Since 2004 Friuli Innovazione is in charge with the management of the Science and Technology Park Luigi Danieli, located in the industrial district of Udine over an area of 80,000 square meters, only a few minutes from the motorway network that connects Venice, Austria and Slovenia. The Park currently hosts research centers, R&D companies, start-up and spin-offs operating in ICT, medical technology, biotechnology, energy and environment, metallurgy. In the biotechnology field the park hosts companies specialized in: genetics and genomics of living organisms (Institute for Applied Genomics); molecular biology and genetic engineering for chemical and pharmaceutical industry (Transactiva), production of probiotics (Turval). In particular, the Institute for Applied Genomics (IGA) with its commercial company IGA Technology Ltd, is leading Italian and European expert in DNA Next Generation Sequencing.
